Class Project Idea

I recently finished another class project for a Fort Worth Christian auction. The faces of the children are their fingerprints. The front of the cake stand charms had their faces and the back had their names. This is a great auction item because the children did have a hand in it with their unique fingerprints but you can also take these cake stand charms off and use holiday charms at another time. As a graduate of Fort Worth Christian I was happy to help them out. I hope their auction goes well!10/28/08
AJ Designs Embroidery

Ashleigh and I had a great time at our Open House this weekend. She has the cutest things. I love her new oil cloth aprons, lunch bags and tote bags. She has nap mats, Bible covers, bibs, personalized shirts and on and on. Check out her website.Teacher Gifts
I have gotten so much better at recycling, but I reuse things more than anything. This is an old hot fudge jar that I cleaned up and reused. I painted the lid and stuck a label and some ribbon on it. I had an old spaghetti sauce jar and several others that I did the same thing with for teacher gifts this year. I read about mixing peanuts with candy corn on another blog and I love it!10/26/08
The Cupcake Cottage

I always have requests for birthday plates and everyone seems to love the cupcake pattern. Who doesn't love cupcakes? Speaking of cupcakes, everyone needs to check out The Cupcake Cottage. It is the cutest little place on Camp Bowie with the nicest owner and the best cupcakes.
I recently donated a platter to a charity auction and they had such a great idea. They got a gift certificate from The Cupcake Cottage to go with my platter and it was the big ticket item.

Handmade Holidays

I have been inspired by so many blogs lately. One particular blog I have grown to love is the Nester. She is currently encouraging us all to have a "handmade holiday" and support creative women who make unique items rather than shop the mega "made in China" stores. I have listed my site on her blog along with many other talented women. Check it out and buy handmade this year!

GROW

I am absolutely loving getting to know the youth girls at my church. Today was youth Sunday and they did an excellent job!!! The overriding message and theme of the service was about God's plan. He was truly glorified today. They shared so many of my favorite scriptures (Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 139, Proverbs 2...). Each one of them talked about how we may not understand why God allows certain things to happen, but we can always trust that He knows what He is doing. He uses those tough times to GROW us up. He has a perfect plan for each of us.
Anyway, this flower is the new logo for our youth girls group. Each girl designed a petal. I love the way it turned out. We finally came up with a name too. We are GROW.

Opening Bid???

Here is yet another before and after project. I got this ceiling tile picture frame on sale over a year ago. Since then it has been left out in the rain to rust, spray painted on by mistake and the glass came off because the glue got too hot in the kiln room. It now has a purpose and will be auctioned off at my church this weekend. Our junior and senior high girls transformed it. Each girl designed their own square with a unique flower. Their picture will go in the frame before this weekend. Isn't it amazing what we can do when we work together!

As you can see we went with a Star Wars theme this year.
The third trooper in the bottom picture is my nephew. Baby boy is big but not that big yet.
