crystal charms

These crystal charm necklaces were teacher gifts for Valentine's Day.

This larger crystal charm necklace was a birthday gift for my
"cherished friend!"

One of my favorite artists when it comes to soldering is Sally Jean,

and I love her book Pretty Little Things.

I have gotten so many great ideas from her book (including these crystal charms).

Obviously I have lots of crystals floating around here with all of my Celebrate cake stands,

so I was thrilled to find yet another use for them!

Happy Valentine's Day

What a great Valentine's Day we had today!

The only problem with the picture above is that my oldest son was at a friend's house,
so he is not in the picture. Plus, my middle son was not exactly cooperating. Ha!

I almost forgot that I had made this heart T-shirt that I am wearing (since I made it back in October).
I made lots of T-shirts back then that I forgot to post, so I will try to post those pics soon.
I bought my T-shirts at J0-Anns.
I cut my shapes out of canvas and painted them with acrylic paint.
Then I stitched around the edges of the shapes using a sewing machine.
Finally, I glued the shapes on the T-shirts with fabric glue.
I have washed them inside out and they were fine. However, I am into the frayed look.

Salt Dough Charms

This year the boys and I made salt dough charms for the cake stand. I highly recommend that everyone do this. I got the idea from one of my favorite blogs, Flip Flops and Applesauce. This blog always has wonderful activities that you can do with your children. You will find the recipe for the salt dough on the blog and simple instructions. We used a can to roll our dough and cut out our hearts with a knife since our rolling pin and cookie cutters are already at the new house.

The boys had fun making the dough and painting the hearts.
I did sprinkle the hearts with some glitter too.
We plan on making Easter Egg charms soon.

Here are the charms before we painted them.

CASA

I was recently asked to make door hangers for twenty members of a
Halo Society committee.
(Check out the Halo House logo when you go to the Halo Society website.
I was honored to be asked to draw their logo for them.)

For the door hangers, I went to Lowe's and had them cut up two pieces of wood. I painted them black, distressed them, Modge Podged the torn paper on, sprinkled them with glitter, and attached the wire with eye hooks.

A good family friend works for CASA and he is chairing this Halo Society committee.
He sent me their theme for the event and this is what he came up with for the door hangers.

CASA is a very worthwhile cause. Check out their website if you are not familiar with them.

cherished friend

This past weekend I had the pleasure of celebrating a "cherished friend's" birthday!
We used a childhood picture on the invitation. Wasn't she the cutest little girl?
